How Long Will my Commercial HVAC System Last?

On average, a commercial HVAC system will last between 10 and 15 years. However, you can easily get 20 years or longer out of the system if you take excellent care of it and invest in repairs when you know that they are needed. You have monthly tasks to complete as a business owner for your commercial HVAC system. Completing these tasks is one of the best ways to extend the lifespan as your HVAC system. It is also important to invest in professional maintenance once per year. This gives our team the opportunity to look at your commercial system and identify any problems early.

What are Maintenance Expectations for a Commercial HVAC system?

Just like a residential system, your commercial, HVAC unit has an air filter that needs to be changed monthly. Some HVAC systems have air filters that you replace, while others have air filters that you clean. You need to change these filters out, at least once a month.

However, if they are particularly dirty, then you need to change them out sooner than that one month mark. Not only does the air filter help clean your air to improve your indoor air quality, but it also protects the inside of your HVAC system from dirt and grime that can add to wear and tear.

You also want to pour vinegar into the condensate drain line of your commercial HVAC system. This is a great way to prevent mold, growth and clogs that can increase humidity levels in your business and even lied to leaks that have the potential to cause water damage.

Is a High-Efficiency Commercial HVAC Model Worth it?

Yes. When it is time to replace your existing commercial HVAC system, it is always worth the extra cost to invest in the highest efficiency available. The obvious benefit is that you save on your monthly energy costs. However, there is another benefit to having an HVAC system with a very high efficiency. Since more efficient HVAC systems, use less energy to operate, they also take on less wear and tear. This can extend the life of your HVAC system so that it will last longer. And let’s face it, you’re saving money with every additional year you can get out of that initial investment.

How Important is Ductwork?

The ductwork that attaches to your air conditioner is equally important in providing heated and cooled air to the space inside of your business location. Ductwork should be completely airtight so that condition air does not escape before reaching the walls of your business. Even the tiniest holes in commercial ductwork can make a huge difference in comfort and energy costs. It is important to have our team assess your ductwork once per year when we complete your annual commercial AC maintenance.
